BCE Impulse is an initiative formed by master students from Tromsø University Business School (TUBS) on the Msc. Business Creation and Entrepreneurship program (BCE), with the purpose to use entrepreneurial skills to improve living conditions and welfare in poorly developed areas in the world.

Pupils at MSDThe first project took place in Kenya, in the Kwale district. The first project was called "Bright ideas for a better future, Kenya 2011". The aim is to provide the Makobe School for Disabled (MSD) with solar panels. This will create income opportunities for the school and local community through small scale business activities and innovation.

The aim with this first project is in two parts; one is to provide a name for the BCE Impulse brand to make it easier for the next generation of BCE students who will hopefully carry on with the brand and project. Second it is to build a foundation for further development for MSD and Makobe, creating innovation in the village and to show the potential of self-sustainability.

The definition of social entrepreneurship is that "a social entrepreneur is someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change. Whereas a business entrepreneur typically measures performance in profit and return, a social entrepreneur focuses on creating social capital. Thus, the main aim of social entrepreneurship is to further social and environmental goals."

BCE Impulse is aligned with the social entrepreneurship philosophy and will utilize our business skills to generate revenues that will go directly to this project. For more information look at our fundraising page.
